not only do they give your plants plenty of light...but also in the right spectrum for vegetative growth. The reason I am so impressed with my T5's is because yesterday I thought I had a dead plant for sure......a 2 foot Hashplant in veg that I somehow overlooked for ONE day and boy was she thirsty. I transplanted "dead plant" into a 5 gallon bucket from her original 5 inch(1 litre) square pot. I also fed "dead plant" as normal for my flowering girls to start.....Voodoo Juice, Pirhana Powder, Carboload, Natures' Nectar Nitrogen, Phoshorous, Potassium and ADD( for micronutes). I fed full strength and hoped this wilted specimen would somehow come back to life from the world of dead cannabis plants(non smoked). Well I kept my fingers crossed and just went to visit my "dead plant" and somehow what looked like total disaster for this plant yesterday, has somehow transformed itself into a BEAUTIFUL FLOWERING FEMALE. SHE MADE IT and she will never, ever go thirsty again. That's the beauty of bigger containers for flowering...less watering. Now I think that had I missed another day it may have been too late, but alas the GODS of MEDICATION have smiled down upon this poor soul. I think that the strength of the T5's made my plant able to withstand an extreme drought just a little bit better, enough to survive!!!:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

As a gardener, T5s are one of the best moves I made in 2007.
They provide all the light to my moms, clones while rooting, and little ones while vegging with beautiful results.
I have 2 400 watt MH ballasts, bulbs, and fixtures sitting in my garage.

I too recently switched from MH to T5's for veg. I have seen much more in the way of growth spurts with T5's than I ever did with the MH. The overall health of the plants is unreal!!!
I am impressed as well. Best move I've made too....

Which setups are you fellas running? Do the 8 bulbs units put off about as much heat as a 400w MH??
How close do you run your t5's?
Thanks for any input, I'm in the market to buy & I don't wanna make any stupid decisions.

I also love My T5's....Right now I'm only using the 4ft 4 bulb and it works great...Plants love it....Its made by Sunleaves called Pioneer 4...Costs me 2 bills out the door for 1....~ogr

Right on, I had no clue you could run them with less bulbs... Perfect. I'm gonna nab the 8 bulb version next run.

I'm running a 4' 8 bulb and 2 - 3' 4 bulbs. Their made by Current. It's a fishtank hood light setup. Very well built. Excellent looking units. The 8 bulb (56W each) runs warm but I've had the plants as close as a few inches away with no damage. The growth rate is absolutly unreal!!!!! I have the 4 Daylite and 4 Actinic bulbs with 4 moonlight simulation bulbs. The smaller units run 2 each........Definatly check em' out. Worth every penny!!!

im on the same train fellas!
i have a 400 W MH sitting in my bedroom closet. i use a 4' 4 bulb for my veg, and a couple 2' lightbars with a homemade hood for my 2 motherplants, with additional 2' lightbar for side lighting for the motherplants to keep em bushy.
i also use a 2' lightbar for each of my cloning trays. i jus set one on top of each humidity dome and it produces enough heat to keep em at the right temp, as well as heating the air just enough to cause water to form droplets all over the inside of my dome. ive never misted my clones, and i get 100% with rapid rooters.
who wants all the extra heat/power consumption a MH causes in a veg. closet anyway?

I have a 4 ft, 8 bulb fixture with two toggle switches. I can run the outer two lamps on either side, the 4 in the middle, or all 8. Right now I have 19 seedlings and 14 clones and they're under the t5s with the outside 4 lamps burning. After the plants are well rooted under this, I veg under 1k hps for a couple of weeks and flip them. Working well for me. No bulb changes for me, lol.

I love mine for cloning and early veg! My moms are under T-8's though about just as much light but noticeably cooler in the cab. I have my T-5's (10) in an alternate pattern so either every other one is lit (cloning) or all are (early veg).

I use a 216w T5 "Sunblaze," I think it's called, the 4x4 model. I can veg 16 plants under mine, rather perfect for my set-up.
I'm actually suprised to hear those who used MH said they replaced it with T5's. I thought I needed an upgrade, but I guess not.
I'm also using mine as supplemental lighting in my flower room at the moment. The plants that are directly under it are performing nicely. Of course not nearly as nicely as directly under the HPS, but nice nonetheless.

They stay sturdy and small. Stems are unusual tick. That's where the real and important power is stored. Transport of food! O, and i almost forgot. The spectrum that these bulbs provide, is important when you want more females. It's not about wanting actually. You can really participate in this male:female ratio thing. :D

I'm not too sure of the m:f ratio claim. In my most recent "test" 
I've gotten 9/16 females. So just above 50%. One hybrid gave me 3/3 females, a different strain gave me 3/3 males. I think it's more luck than anything.

I agree IME they don't provide more females. Sex is pretty much predetermined although poor lighting or any stress can change sex and of course hormones.

can you buy T5 bulbs at wally world? is a regular floro fixture able to accomodate T5s?
what is a T5 bulb exactly, is it a grow bulb? like a aquarium bulb.

Lights are only one aspect. Guys, it's not only about luck and genetics (sex predetermination). Conditions in which the plants grow also play a big roll!
