They look great! But with something bursting with flavor like that, have you thought of repurposing the portions not used? Try egg &/or flour as a bonding agent. Then drop them for a hot swim till golden brown. Can be served as an app if you add a sauce or dip. Or as an extra side. Just a suggestion. Less waste. More money.
Good luck with your endeavors. Be blessed.

FAQs

How long should a potato boil? ›

In general small or cubed potatoes will take about 10 to 15 minutes to boil, while larger, whole potatoes will take between 20 to 25 minutes. To check potatoes for doneness, insert a knife into one. If it slides in without much effort, you're good to go!

How to store chopped potatoes? ›

The best (and most popular) way to keep cut potatoes from turning brown is to completely submerge them in a bowl of water. Store the water-covered potatoes in a bowl in the refrigerator until you're ready to use them, up to one day in advance.

Do you put potatoes in boiling water or before it boils? ›

For most potato dishes it's important to add the potatoes to cold water and allow the water to come to a boil with the potatoes in the water. The potato starch can react as soon as it comes in contact with hot water, which will promote uneven cooking and mealy potatoes.

Should you cover potatoes while boiling? ›

In a large pot, add potatoes, 1 tablespoon salt, and cold water to cover by 1 inch. Bring to a boil, reduce heat to medium, and cook uncovered until potatoes are tender and can easily be pierced by a knife, about 10 to 15 minutes (20 to 25 minutes for larger potatoes).

Can I freeze raw cut potatoes? ›

You absolutely can freeze potatoes, and you should if you have an excess of spuds. But there's one important thing to remember: You should really only freeze cooked or partially cooked potatoes, as raw potatoes contain a lot of water. This water freezes and, when thawed, makes the potatoes mushy and grainy.

How long can potatoes sit in water before boiling? ›

How long can peeled and cut potatoes sit in water before cooking, before they begin taking on too much water? A: We usually recommend no more than 24 hours. You can keep the potatoes from absorbing the water by making sure the water is not salted, and is chilled (you can even add ice to the water).

Will boiled potatoes turn brown in the fridge? ›

Do cooked potatoes go brown? No. Once the starch is cooked, the potato won't go brown even if it is exposed to air for a while. If you have lots of potatoes that need to be used up, the best option is to peel and cube them, then cook them and freeze them in portions.

How do you boil potatoes perfectly? ›

Season with a teaspoon of salt per pound of potatoes. Bring water to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium and cook at rapid simmer until potatoes are easily pierced with a paring knife, about 10 minutes for chopped potatoes and 20 minutes for whole potatoes.

How long do you boil potatoes with the skin on? ›

Cook on high to bring water to boiling, then reduce heat to low. Cover the pan with a lid and gently boil for 20 minutes or until potatoes are tender. Check them with a fork for doneness.

Can you overcook potatoes boil? ›

If you overcook them they disintegrate and your potatoes will be soupy. The specific cooking time depends on the size of your potato: a perfectly cooked piece of potato should give no resistance when cut with a knife, but shouldn't crumble into a million pieces.

What is the trick to boiling potatoes? ›

Bring a pot with tight fitting lid of water to a rolling boil. To prepare the potatoes take a very sharp knife and score the potato entirely around the center. With a pair of cooking tongs, place the potatoes into the boiling water and cover with lid. Let simmer for about 15 minutes.
