Position Summary...
Manages the development, evaluation, and implementation of training development standards and governance by researching and benchmarking industry standards. Defines and documents standardized training processes to ensure operational continuity. Identifies opportunities to replicate best practices and processes and makes recommendations for implementation. Ensures leadership and implementation teams have necessary training materials. Evaluates training development requests. Communicates standardized training processes to key business partners to ensure operational continuity. Identifies opportunities to replicate best practices and processes and makes recommendations for implementation and delivery. Provides process definition and management to the organization. Provides guidance on training development roadmaps and resource plans by analyzing the business impacts and requirements of implemented training practices. Supports the testing of different training approaches and evaluates results. Supports technology implementation projects. Collaborates with key business partners to create training technology rollout plans. Executes feedback process with Operations to evaluate program effectiveness. Identifies necessary content changes and develops action plans to implement changes. Consolidates feedback for leadership. Provides input to business partners on training content deliverables. Provides leadership, functional, and compliance-related courses to facility-level and above audiences by conducting needs assessments. Prepares materials for course delivery through blended delivery methods. Observes participant engagement in courses. Applies adult learning techniques while delivering content. Administers course content and examinations. Answers questions related to course content and concept application. Ensures enhanced learner experiences by remaining current on facilitation course materials, learning technologies, tools, and practices. Engages subject-matter experts to develop practical application scenarios. Rehearses course content prior to delivery. Develops and administers assessments to gather data on the efficacy of training content and facilitation methods. Collaborates with the assessments team to research, compile, and analyze results. Reviews and creates action plans based on customer insights and industry knowledge. Develops and executes contingency plans. Implements and monitors program improvements to course content to ensure learning objectives are met. Coordinates, completes, and oversees job-related activities and assignments by developing and maintaining relationships withkey stakeholders; supporting plans and initiatives to meet customer and business needs; identifying and communicating goals and objectives; bui lding accountability for and measuring progress in achieving results; identifying and addressing improvement opportunities; and demonstrating adaptability and promoting continuous learning. Provides supervision and development opportunities for associates by hiring and training; mentoring; assigning duties; providing recognition; and ensuring diversity awareness. Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and supports company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by implementing related action plans; utilizing and supporting the Open Door Policy; and providing direction and guidance on applying these in executing business processes and practices.

About Team: The Design Services team is part of the Walmart Academy and creates impactful learning interventions and training content for the enterprise. Our learning specialists and media experts work in an agile environment to fulfill business needs through instructor-led training, eLearning, assessments, decks, video, animation, branding, and so much more! With the latest tools and technologies at disposal, our designers create a lasting impression with the target audience.
The ideal candidate is responsible for designing innovative, and adaptive learning solutions which drive measurable performance improvement. An individual in this position is skilled in identifying ambiguous business problems using data, analytics, and skilled learning analysis. Though supported by a Learning Architect, our ideal candidate is a strong owner, able to work with full autonomy, owning the full-cycle learning process. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties as assigned and/or necessary.
What you'll do:
- Develop learning strategies and solutions through a combination of research and interaction with business partners/stakeholders, SMEs along with collaboration with Learning Architects and other designers.
- Research, conceptualize, design and curate commercial grade learning content in support of strategic learning initiatives by applying up-to-date Instructional Design expertise.
- Develop and drive new standards and processes to ensure consistency across all programs and materials. Initiate and lead process improvement conversations and lead the team through changes.
- Identify the right modality / technology to meet objective, proactively bringing forth opportunities to test and learn with innovative solutions.
- Recommend and develop quality learning content in a variety of modalities (Traditional ILT, eLearning, Video, AR, Micro Learning, VR, etc.) depending on the needs of our learners and our business.
- Adapt style and tone of content development to fit a variety of roles across the enterprise, including development of targeted learning assessments to measure key outcomes in our learning programs.
- Create timelines for deliverables to be completed and evaluate training against established benchmarks to ensure effectiveness.
- Continued research and application of trends and advancements in the learning and development space to Walmart's content development, i.e. Bloom’s taxonomy, blended learning, etc.
- Proactively move to where the work is, supporting Learning Architects by owning deliverables and managing development of complex learning objects.
- Demonstrate emotional intelligence, creativity, and strength in the face of change, obstacles, and adversity.
- Embrace an agile mindset/way of working, while adapting to competing demands and shifting priorities of the business.
- Exchange ongoing constructive feedback about content development and creative design with peers, supervisors, and other collaborators across the broader Design Services team.
What you'll bring:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Human Resources, Communications, Education, Literature or related field.
- 8-12 years relevant industry experience.
- Extensive experience training in an operational or production-based environment or related area.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for internal and external communication via email, online meetings, and face-to-face interactions.
- Acute attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in ADDIE/SAM design processes, MS Office, Rapid Authoring Tools.
- Experience in working with CMS and LMS platforms, AEM preferred.
- Experience working with multiple team members and stakeholders.
- Must be able and willing to think and act strategically and tactically.
- Be knowledgeable of ADA and inclusivity standards.
