Today we organized an exciting solar cooking festival called Suryakumbh. The festival aimed to inspire young children to discover the art and science of harnessing solar energy by cooking their meals in a self-assembled solar cooker. The event began with an intriguing theory session that encouraged children to think beyond the obvious and took them on a journey connecting different forms of energy with solar energy.After the theory session, children used the principles they had just learned to assemble their own portable solar cookers in just a few minutes. The simplicity of the solar cookers fostered creativity, challenged their intellect, and built scientific temper by inviting children to tinker and experiment with them. More importantly, the cookers inspired children to independently cook their own food without fuel, fire, or wires. This phenomenon built vast confidence and transformed the way they perceived solar energy.The results were impressive! Within just 30-40 minutes of placing the raw ingredients, the children had successfully baked a chocolate cake and cooked a delicious and aromatic sabudana khichadi in their solar cookers. The children relished the hot food and shared the surya prasad with their teachers and friends.For many children, this was their first time cooking something on their own, and to do that with hundreds of friends using the purest form of energy was an experience of a lifetime. The festival concluded with children promising to try different recipes using their solar cookers and note the impact of season and time of day on cooking time. They also promised to share the magic of solar cooking with their family and friends, compounding the effect of this little effort toward building a sustainable world.#solarenergy #sustainable #suryakumbh #solarcooking #solarpower #solarfestival
