#VAF2024It’s Almost Time! We can’t wait to see you all in Michigan in a matter of days. Ways to get here from there: The tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula is the farthest you can get from an interstate highway in the lower 48 – but getting here is worth it! FLY! The Houghton County Memorial Airport (airport code CMX, which stands for the Canada-Michigan Connection) is ten minutes from the hotel. We will be running van shuttles for you. Two flights a day arrive from Chicago O’Hare. Check the conference website for more details. MAKE IT A ROAD TRIP! The UP Travel and Recreation Association has great suggestions for cultural stops and outdoor activities along the way. Suggested Road Trip Routes:  Start in Detroit and see Mackinac Island and the Mackinac Bridge  Start in Chicago or Milwaukee and pass by Lambeau Field, Wisconsin’s Door County, and Minoqua.  Start in the Twin Cities and explore Duluth, the Apostle Islands, and Porcupine Mountain State Park, always ranked among the best state parks in the country.

#VAF2024 You'll see and do a lot during the course of VAF 2024, but the organizers can't fit all the Keweenaw's historical experiences into the event schedule. Consider adding a day or two to your visit so you can explore these Copper Country attractions:Laurium Manor Inn Copper Harbor Lighthouse tours (via Noah's Ark Charters)Estivant Pines Nature SanctuaryA.E. Seaman Mineral MuseumFort Wilkins State Historic ParkKeweenaw Storytelling CenterKeweenaw Boat Tours Open Skies Project (former Calumet Air Force Radar Station)History of Hockey Museum at Dee Stadiumhttps://lnkd.in/erUFRgiR
