What travelers are saying

"We booked “The Best of Gaudi Tour: Fast Track Sagrada Familia & Park Guell Regular tour” by Julia Travel S.L through Viator. Julia Travel is the most unreliable tour operator we ever come across in our decades of travels: we visited only ⅓ of the tour we booked. The tour consisted of 3 parts:•Sagrada Familia guided tour•Parc Guell guided tour•Passeig the Gracia walking tour as well as optional tour of Casa Mila & Casa Batllo.2 days before the tour, we were informed that “Passeig the Gracia walking tour” as well as optional tour of Casa Mila & Casa Batllo, were cancelled and we were refunded €7/person out of €91/person we paid for the tour. Furthermore, the tour left us at Park Guell, far from metro stations. Part of the reason for us to choose this tour was that it would end at Casa Batllo which is near a metro station. The worst part was that my wife and I were left out of the Sagrada Familia guided tour due to the unprofessional conduct of the tour guide. She was unable to handle such a big tour group (28 persons) in a very crowded place at the entrance to Sagrada Familia. We could follow the tour guide to the entrance of Sagrada Familia by following the umbrella she was holding up high. Then she went to authenticate the tickets and I did not see the umbrella again. While waiting for the tour guide, I took the opportunity to take photos and videos of Sagrada Familia. Then I looked around and could not see the tour guide anymore. I looked around repeatedly and did not see the umbrella. I was at the front of the entrance to Sagrada Familia all the time. I learnt later that she did not hold up the umbrella when entering Sagrada Familia. The tour guide was only 1.5 m tall and it was impossible to see her among the huge crowd in front of the entrance. She did not hand out tickets individually to us and did not check that all 28 of us are together before entering Sagrada Familia. So I waited and waited in vain. After the Sagrada Familia guided tour, the guide said that she had experienced visitors being left out on several occasions before, yet nothing was done to ensure this is not repeated! Even worse, Julia Travel said that I had to claim refund through Viator because we bought the tour through Viator, but Viator dismissed my claim for refund without giving me a reason. We came from Singapore which is far away, and failed to see the most iconic place in Barcelona, because of the tour guide’s carelessness and unprofessional conduct. Please note that I was claiming only the refund of entry fees, not the lost opportunity to visit Sagrada Familia after travelling so far from Singapore. The entrance fee to Sagrada Familia was €52 each. My wife and I were not refunded any money. So beware of Julia Travel, even if its tours are advertised through Tripadvisor and Viator."

What travelers are saying

"Our Travel Director, Brad ****, did an exceptional job. There was an airline strike at the start of the tour which meant alternative travel arrangements needed to be made for day 2 of the tour, otherwise it may not have been possible to proceed. Brad handled this difficult situation exceptionally well and capped the day off with a surprise visit to Santa Clause Village. Brad also successfully made changes to a couple of other days of the tour to maximise our chances of seeing the Northern Lights. This was obviously well received by all of the tour group. Our Driver, Tomasz, was exceptional at driving in extremely difficult conditions including heavy snow storms. The Local Guides we encountered were also excellent at their role of enhancing our experiences."

FAQs

How much time to tour Portugal? ›

Even though Portugal is a small country, you need a minimum of 10 days to see all of it. A 10-day trip to Portugal is enough to visit the mainland from North to South, tour the major cities, such as Lisbon and Porto, explore some countryside villages, and relax for a day or two on the beach.

Can you do a day trip to Algarve from Lisbon? ›

Embark on a fully flexible, full-day trip from Lisbon to the breathtaking Algarve Coast. Tailor the tour to your preferences with a flexible itinerary, and discover cultural insights and natural wonders. Departing in the early morning, climb aboard a minibus or van and discover the charm of Albufeira's historic center.

Is 4 days enough in Portugal? ›

Yes, 4 days in Portugal are enough for an amazing experience.

What is the best month to travel to Portugal? ›

When is the best time to visit Portugal? Where is this? The best time to visit Portugal is in spring (March-May), when the country is in bloom and waking after the winter. You could also go in fall (between September and October) when the sun is still shining, the weather is warm, and many of the crowds have dispersed.

Is Portugal expensive to visit? ›

If you're on a budget, you'll be happy to know that travel around Portugal, including accommodation at an affordable hotel with rooms that are priced between €20 and €50, can be affordable and enjoyable. If you are on a tight budget, prepare to spend between €46 ($50) to €65 ($70) a day.

What is the best way to travel within Portugal? ›

Portugal is not a large country and you can get almost everywhere easily and efficiently by train or bus. Regional trains are often cheaper and some lines very scenic, but it's almost always quicker to go by bus – especially on shorter or less obvious routes.

How much money will I need for 7 days in Portugal? ›

A one week trip to Portugal for two people costs, on average, $2,076 (€1,908). This includes accommodation, food, local transportation, and sightseeing.

Is there a high-speed train from Lisbon to Algarve? ›

Yes, both Intercidades express trains and high-speed Alfa Pendular trains can take you directly from the lively capital of the country to sun-kissed Faro. But keep in mind that the Alfa Pendular travel time is much faster, this modern train can take you between the wonderful cities in less than 3 hours!

Is Lisbon or Porto better? ›

Big sister Lisbon is twice the size, more cosmopolitan, faster paced and 200 miles further south, so in summer it can be sweltering. Compact, walkable Porto has a more traditional feel and is cooled by Atlantic breezes through summer, though fog and rain can roll in via the same route during the winter.

Is Porto worth a day trip from Lisbon? ›

You'll uncover hidden gems and iconic landmarks as you travel from Lisbon to Porto by train, bus, or private transfer. Porto and Lisbon have unique charms, but a day trip to Porto will definitely leave you with unforgettable memories and a deeper appreciation for Portugal's enchanting cities.

What is the best way to get from Lisbon to Porto? ›

Taking a train from Lisbon to Porto is generally the best mode of travel. High-speed options usually take about two hours and 45 minutes, while standard options may take closer to three hours.

Is 7 days enough time in Portugal? ›

How many days in Portugal is enough? Depending on your travel style and the type of trip you're planning, 7, 10 or 14 days is enough time to visit Portugal. If you want to drive around the country, plan to set aside at least 2 to 3 weeks.

Is 10 days enough to see Portugal? ›

This is the top question always asked — how much is needed? I always recommend a minimum of a single week for Portugal. 10 days is not enough but will give you the right amount of time to visit a few things slowly. Lisbon alone takes three full days to properly see, and even a few more if you do day trips.

How many days can I visit Portugal? ›

Visa requirements

You can travel without a visa to the Schengen area, which includes Portugal, for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This applies if you travel: as a tourist. to visit family or friends.
