5. Banana, Yogurt, Honey, Wheat germ oil And Condensed Milk Pre-poo
Bananas have a lot of great benefits for hair so we would be remiss if we did not include a pre-poo recipe with them.
You will need one medium to large banana or banana baby food as a substitute, 4 tablespoons of honey*, 3 tablespoons of yogurt preferably full fat, 3 tablespoons of condensed milk, and 2 tablespoons of wheat germ oil*.
Do not under any circ*mstances use a fork or spoon to mash the banana. Do blend everything in a blender* until the mix is completely smooth or else you will have annoying chunks of banana in your hair that will ruin a perfect spa day.
You may look at condensed milk as something to turn your nose up at because who would really want condensed milk in their hair? Here’s the thing though, any milk is great for adding a touch of protein and it really adds moisture and shine to the hair, so don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.
Wheat germ oil is also interesting, it is known for its vitamins* especially in the B familywhichincreases circulation to the scalp and can thicken hair. Not to mention its abundance of ceramides which will pave over cracks in your cuticles making your hair smoother.
Final thoughts
You don’t have to do a pre-poo for each wash-day even though it would be great if you did. Still, most of us are pressed for time so here are some pointers for when you should really consider doing a pre-poo.
1. If you are about to put your hair away under a weave or in some other long-term protective style. A pre-poo will help add extra moisture to your strands before you style.
2. If you are about to clarify your hair, a pre-poo would be great at preventing your hair from getting too dry and tangling too much after your shampoo.
3. The week after a chemical treatment like a relaxer or hair color. A pre-poo would be really helpful to replenish your processed locks.
4. Doing it once per month at the bare minimum can still help you stay on track with your healthy hair goals.
Thanks for reading! Leave us a comment letting us know your favorite pre-poo recipes. If you have never done a pre-poo before do give it a try and let us know how it goes. Until next time, all the best on your hair journey.
